This issue features a mirrored disco piece by Andrés Bedoya (my first embedded video wish me luck) and a smaller mirrored wall piece, a painting by the young and talented Michael Thompson, a “happy sad” painting by Aglaé Bassens, a ceramic and painting piece by Stephanie Temma Hier, two glossy paintings by Adam Henry (a personal favorite, please go see his larger works on view now at Candice Madey), insane marble wall pieces by Jim Gaylord (ask me about the upcoming unveiling of a public commission next week in NYC), two overwhelmingly chic fractal works by Miles Huston, and an inkjet on canvas study by Thomas Blair.
Below is the one work above the paywall for everyone to enjoy a mirrored and brass work by Mexico City-based, Bolivian artist Andrés Bedoya (photo cred: me) who has quite a compelling practice. “Bedoya explores the origin of belief systems, rituals and objects, reconstructing them within an abstracted biographical narrative. This includes both historical and contemporary practices, from pre-Columbian cultures to those imposed during the Spanish colonial era to those maintained today. The works that comprise his oeuvre make an oblique reference to various sources, such as the Inca metallurgy, Roman Catholic iconography, monetary systems, and the folklore of contemporary Bolivia.” - Situations Press Release
